5 Element Acupuncture
emotion is a movement
The 5 elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water in 5 element acupuncture, are linked with the seasons and phases of the year in nature and their unqiue energetic signatures. These elements are also linked with the organs in our body, with specific mental/emotional patterns and different movements and expressions of our spirit and soul. In 5 element work it’s seen that we contain all of the 5 elements in the way nature contains all of the seasonal times, and one of these elements is particularly significant for us and has been since early on in life, impacting our view and way of being in the world, and for some people, more than one element has a significant impact on their lives. This is seen as the root cause of imbalance in 5 element acupuncture, and treatment works by aiming to strengthen these elements and the constitution of a person, helping them to feel more resilient.
why is being in connection with nature an important part of healthcare?
I tend to think of nature as a forever thing. that no matter what, will continue it's impulse, movement and ever evolving way, and that when we deepen our relationship to it, we can tap into a deeper understanding of ourselves that exists outside of our minds, current thinking and trends within society, and shows us how the rhythms in nature are mirrored within our bodies and selves. When we start to find ways to navigate life in a way that honours these impusles, movements and evolution, we start to open up new possibilities of harmony and health within ourselves, and with the different relationships in our lives too..
how often are treatments?
5 element treatments are offered weekly initially, and as people start to feel better in themselves, treatments are gradually spread further and further, eventually shifting to the start of each seasonal change, and/or around significant sun cycle moments like the spring equinox and winter solstice.
