Seahorse Families, a sensitive and queer centred reproductive space, open to everyone
acupuncture support through the whole or part of your journey into and through parenthood, including fertility, IVF/ICSI, Pregnancy, birthing support and post natal care
Welcome, I’m glad to have you here
After supporting hundreds of people on their fertility and pregnancy journeys over the past 10+ years, I have shifted the central focus of my practice and now only working with a small number of fertility and pregnancy clients at any one time. I’ve also decided to centre my work in this area around reproductive justice, which means that my work is deeply inclusive, and at it’s core is aimed at being accessible to people who regularly find their needs are missed or they are harmed in some sort of way in regular healthcare settings.
The care I offer here is open to everyone regardless of their trauma histories, gender, sexuality, relationship configurations, age, body size, weight, physical disabilities or conditions. My work is anti-racist, trans and queer centred, trauma informed, whole person and affirming. By being queer and trans centred, this means the way I work acknowledges that fertility and pregnancy care usually marginalises people who are not heterosexual or cisgendered and can cause them harm in the process. The frame works I draw on and use are designed to affirm people, whoever they are, and use the language they want me to use for them. It also means that as a queer and trans person myself, I’m less likely to be working in an environment that could also cause me harm.
I have worked with a wide range of people with very different lives and backgrounds including:
solo parents in their late 30's/early 40's optimising their health in preparation for egg collection and embryo storage
supporting queer couples where one or both partners are trans, intersex or non-binary and global majority (including trans women of colour), while trying to conceive and in preparation for labour
trans masc people on gender affirming HRT wanting support around hormonal regulation
women trying to conceive who have physical conditions such as spina bifada
straight couples who need extra care due to trauma histories, complex health conditions, being black and/or global majority and wanting someone who invests in working towards greater safety especially in maternity care, or are neurodiverse
With you through part, or all of your journey
The acupuncture support I offer can be there with you along part or all of your journey around creating a family, from pregnancy loss, to fertility optimising, trying to conceive, throughout pregnancy, in preparation for labour, induction and recovery after birth.
I believe parents should continue to be cared for after their children join their families, whether that’s after giving birth, after being supported by a surrogate, or while fostering or adopting, and especially families that face extra barriers in their lives because of who they are. I offer acupuncture at any time parents need extra support, care and nurturance with their health and wellbeing, whatever age their children are, including parents with children in their late teens.
